Papers of Ann Beattie [manuscript], 1976-1986.

The collection contains typescripts, galley proofs, or page proofs of nineteen of Beattie's short stories and her novels, "Falling in place" and "Love always"; motion picture typescripts for "Chilly scenes of winter" and "Learning to fall"; and several drafts of "Alex Katz." Also include letters to Beattie requesting her comments on new books; publicity material on Beattie and William F. Buckley and their books for the "Goblin Tales" series; American University commencement and honor awards programs in which Beattie is listed as an honoree; advertisements for public readings; reviews of Beattie's work. Also include a copy of an honors dissertation by Kristina M. Brooks, "A generation lost in uncertainty: A critical study of the fiction of Ann Beattie"; a photograph of the book cover of "Secrets and surprises"; a copy of an article "Ann Beattie from Sundance" published in "Film Comment"; a copy of an interview with Beattie conducted by Sinda Gregory and Larry McCaffery; and a copy of a "New Yorker" parody of Beattie's work entitled "Rots of Ruck" by Ann "Weedie".
